The Challenge:
Criaterra, a company that produces building tiles made from blends of natural minerals and herbs, faced the challenge of cutting and weighing these materials in geometrically shaped portions, with very limited precision.
The materials have varying specific gravity, including granular and fibrous substances that are difficult to measure and dispense precisely.
Gevasol’s solution
- Measurement method: A laser beam observes the material’s progress in the cutting sleeve, controlled by precise motion control.
- Material compression control: The laser determines when to stop the material compression and performs the initial measurement.
- Precise cutting position: An additional test is conducted using laser to determine the exact cutting position.
Benefits Achieved
- Significant labor savings
- Improved accuracy in the process
- Enhanced preparedness of batches for the next stage of the process.
